January 2012 Blog Post

A Lot of multi genre music videos playlist here from my main youtube channels. Simple minded .music video, and music in general chit chat and off the wall insane thoughts about music and all who play it, listen to it, cry to it. I am a music video freak and have certain things to say now and then.

New Bands & Musicians Section

I started creating some bands & musicians specific music video playlist. I am currently using the Youtube Music Discovery Tool, which by the way if you are interested in using it look at the bottom of your Youtube pages and click on Try Something New. It is great for lazy people like me that have to maintain 100s of sites for bands and get tired of typing, searching for the perfect videos to create a great playlist. You simply type in a bands / artist name and save the playlist, rename it, dump the videos you don't like from a quality standpoint, or the ones that don't fit in.  You can see what I have so far in the left sdebar listed under Bands & Musicians. I have added a playlist below from one of the playlist. A great musician that always puts on a good show.

Modern Day Surf Boogie Song

A really good contemporary boogie & guitar instrumental surf song.  Great surf pictures to ad to the quality of this great music video. The Bands name is The Excelerators. The song is named Scootin The Surf.  The Excelerators also have another quality video production here in our site name Livin On The Dark Side. You can find it in the left sidebar in The Anti-War, Government Protest music video playlist. You have to watch it. Fantastic video.

Back To surf music. On the same page as this video you can also watch another really good surf instrumental from the 60s name Baja. The bands name is The Astronauts. You can also find it in the left sidebar listed under Surf Electric Guitar Music.

The Best Occupy Wall Street Song

posted Jan 21, 2012, 9:53 AM by Drew Franklin   [ updated Jun 17, 2016, 10:09 PM ]

This is by far the best Occupy Wall Street (music video) Song in my own opinion. Besides the the fact the lyrics are so accurate and touching, the music video production should win an award. Maybe it has, or will ?  The song is by Joseph Arthur.  Who is Joseph Arthur ? He is a Folk Rock singer-songwriter from Akron Ohio who also delves into the Alternative music stream. A very talented Poet and Music Artist. I already have this video up the the Anti-war, Government protest section of this site listed in the sidebar to the left. But I also wanted to post about it here to give it a little added special attention. I attended the Occupy Wall Street rally's and march here in Austin, so it has very special meaning. Enough Rambling on. Let's get to the song. #occupywallstreet

I just added a new music video playlist with some  Funk Groove Soul R&B music. Some from way back in the 60s, and up to the 80s funk of Rick James. While I was looking through the playlist on the Official Youtube Channel I came across this song. Some Funk from the 60s on an old 45. I can't explain why I like it, I just do.  So inturn I am going to post it. It is by Don Pierce. The song title is This Funky Thing.

Airbourne - Best Aussie Rock Band ?

posted Jan 19, 2012, 10:24 PM by Drew Franklin   [ updated Jun 17, 2016, 10:09 PM ]

Sure you have AC/DC, but these guys will rock your face off. I like them a lot. AC/DC has been around forever. Definitely in the music history books for one of the best bands ever. The title is just to get your attention.

They have a great sound and write some really good music. They even look like a rock band. Hailing from  Warrnambool, Australia, they are signed with The Roadrunner record label.  Listed online as Hard Rock and Heavy Metal. They have been playing for about 10 years but thanks you Youtube I discovered them only about 6 months ago. I have heard some really good music from Australian bands. Anyway, remember the name. They are good.

You can see a couple more Airbourne Music Videos here within the site. Just look over in the sidebar to the left. If you like what you hear I also created a Airbourne Music Video Playlist at The Official Browse Music Videos Youtube Channel. The link to it will be very obvious on their page hosted here..

Buckle up your seat belt and put both hands on the wheel. Airbourne is getting ready to take you on a trip.

New Bluegrass Playlist

posted Jan 17, 2012, 4:54 PM by Drew Franklin   [ updated Jun 17, 2016, 10:09 PM ]

Added a new playlist to the site. Bluegrass Folk Music.  If you like Fiddles, Mandolins, Banjos and even Upright Bass then take a listen.  Bluegras music is the birth child of country music some time back in music history.  A bunch of hillbilly's got together with a jug of whiskey and one of them broke out a banjo.

Yeah, I know it didn't happen like that, but it makes for a better story.

House Of The Rising Sun - 25 Cover Songs

posted Jan 17, 2012, 1:56 PM by Drew Franklin   [ updated Jun 17, 2016, 10:09 PM ]

One might wonder how many times this song has been covered, and by what bands?  In my own humble opinion and personal taste my favorite is the 70s version by Frijid Pink. Secondly The Animals. I like the Frijid Pink version the best because it borders more on the boundaries of hard rock / metal mix. I also like the Fuzz guitar in it.

On one of my Youtube ventures to find as many bands and musicians as I could that covered it, I was amazed at some of the versions of the song that sounded great by some I thought would be terrible. A few examples would be Bon Jovi. I thought they did a great version of House Of The Rising Sun. Female Artist Roxy Perry also did a great blues soul rendition. Thin Lizzy too. Even Waylon did a semi decent run at it.

Some I felt were not so great, and again this is a personal opinion is Bob Dylan and Courtney Love.

Decide for yourself. There are a lot of people out there that have covered The House Of The Rising Sun. One reason is nobody really knows who wrote it and you don't have to pay anyone royalty fees. It's a free for all.

House Of The Rising Sun - Youtube Channel Playlist

Take a listen and see what you think. I think there are about 25 different bands & musician videos covering it. Some good, some not so good. Listen to The Animals and the Frijid Pink version and decide which one you think is better. Maybe not better because they are both good, but which one you like more than the other.
